Singaporean Traveler: How the Guilin Payment Guide Helped My Trip

Before flying to Guilin I worried most about payments. As a singaporean traveler leaving from Amsterdam, I was unsure whether my cards would work or if I needed Alipay for everything.

The digital setup guide walked me through installing Alipay, linking a foreign card, and downloading Baidu Maps before departure. That preparation meant I could pay for taxis, street food, and entrance tickets without relying on cash.

There were still a few surprises. A small restaurant in Yangshuo only accepted WeChat Pay, and one hotel wanted a cash deposit that I had not expected. Having a backup card and some yuan notes solved both problems quickly.

If you are traveling from Amsterdam or anywhere else outside mainland China, set up your payment apps before you leave. Test them at home and download offline maps for each area you plan to visit.
