- Night 1 – Guilin city: arrive, check in near the central lakes (Shanhu/Ronghu area), walk the lit waterfront in the evening, eat well. You are rested before the scenery starts.
- Nights 2-4 – Yangshuo: move south after the Li River route. Base here for the countryside days — cycling, rafting, viewpoints. Yulong River properties are quieter and more scenic; West Street is livelier and walkable to dinner.
- Longji: only with 5+ days. The terraces reward a sunrise overnight, but the mountain road and luggage-carry make it a poor fit for a short first trip.
