Visiting Longji Rice Terraces was the main reason I came to Guilin. As a german traveler, I wanted practical details about timing, tickets, and transport rather than glossy photos.

The guide explained when to arrive to avoid the largest groups, where to park if I came by car, and how much time to allow between viewpoints. I followed the suggested morning schedule and had the best light for photos before the midday crowds arrived.

There were still some logistics to figure out on the spot. A local shuttle was running late, signage was mostly in Chinese, and mobile signal disappeared in parts of the valley. Having offline maps and the Chinese names written down made a real difference.

For other german travelers, plan Longji Rice Terraces early in the day, bring water and snacks, and do not assume the last transport back leaves late. A little preparation turns a crowded attraction into a memorable experience.

Tips for German travelers

  • Wear comfortable shoes; viewpoints often require walking and steps.
  • Bring a portable battery; cold weather drains phones quickly.
  • Buy tickets online when possible to skip the ticket-office queue.
